Knik Tribal Council Housing Mod/Rehab program is for  Alaska Native/American Indian home owners. You do not have to be a member of Knik Tribal Council, but you must meet the income guidelines, own your own home and land, and be able to provide documentation that you are Alaska Native/American Indian.

The Housing program has income guidelines based on household income and number of individuals in the home. It also takes into account age, physical/mental handicaps, and other issues which may make it more difficult for applicants to complete the repairs themselves.

Also, priority is put on those issues which are life threatening, such as a heater in the middle of winter or a faulty water heater which is putting CO into the home.

The Housing Program does many things including, but not limited to:

roof repair/replacement

plumbing installation/repair

electrical installation/repair

door replacement/repair

Handicap accessible ramps

Heater repair/replacement

Water heater repair/replacement

If your home is in need of some repairs that you just haven't been able to afford, then this program is probably for you.

There is an application which must be filled out, and documents that need to be brought in such as: income verification, documentation of home ownership, documentation of Alaska Native/American Indian descent.

Once your application is complete, our housing staff will do a Housing Inspection to determine what problems your home has. When that is complete, your application and housing issues will be prioritized depending on how sever or life threatening the issues are.

When work begins on your home, either our Housing staff or contractor will be performing the work. You must be there when Knik or it's contractors come to work on your home.
