Knik Tribal Council has had a Library available to KTC members for many years now. Year after year we purchase more books in very diverse genres.
Knik's library is open to all Knik members, you just have to sign up for a library card. This is a simple one page application that can be filled out very quickly.
Once you have a library card you can check books out. There is a limit of five (5) books per person. Books that are checked out can be kept up to two (2) weeks. If you haven't finished your books by the due date you can call and check them out for another two (2) weeks. We want to make sure that you have enough time to read the books you check out.
Geraldine Nicoli is the Librarian here at Knik. She is new to the position and is working hard to make sure that the library runs more smoothly than it ever has before. She has streamlined the checkout procedure and created a database to track circulation which is helpful when applying for grants.
Geraldine would like to let you know that we do take requests. In other words, if there is a type of book you want to see more of in our library, or specific books you think we should have, just let Geraldine know and the next time the library purchases books she'll look for the books that were requested.
Any suggestions you have to improve the library are greatly appreciated. The library is for your utilization and if there's something that would make it more user friendly or make it more appealing to use, just let Geraldine know.
Knik Tribal Council Library also takes donations. Any books that you may want to get rid of that are in fairly good condition and you think others would like to read, just bring them by the office and we'll put them in the library. Also, if you have videos, books on tape, or other such items, we will take those too. Don't forget it is tax deductible, just ask for a donation receipt when you drop off your books.
