Van Service: Knik's van service is for Alaska Native/American Indian individuals who need rides to the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. It can also take individuals to other doctors appointments in Anchorage. To get a ride you must have an appointment and call at least 48 hours (two days) in advance. Our Van drivers name is Jim Cogan, just call the office and ask for Jim. He is quite often out of the office so if he is not here when you call, just leave him a message and he'll call you back. You can contact Jim at: (907)373-3152 Clothing Closet: Knik Tribal Council has a clothing closet which is open during our normal office hours, 8am-4pm Monday-Friday. There are all types of clothes and sometimes household items that are free to whom ever needs them.
Food Bank/Outreach Program: Our Food Bank/Outreach program is open to the public, it's motto being "A Family in Need is a Family We Feed" If you need immediate assistance, you can call the office to find out if we can help or go to the Public Assistance office and get a blue slip. Then you will be able to come to the office to pick up a food box and get on the Outreach program call list. If you are on the Outreach list you will be called when we receive donations. Knik's Outreach program is run completely on donations. There are over four hundred families on our Outreach program list, so if you do not receive a call from us for a month or two, we did not forget you, we just have lots of people to call and not that much food to go around. |
